We Love Being Green

At Grand Hyatt Denver, we take being environmentally conscious very seriously. This is a partial list of some of our conservation efforts:


Green Initiatives at Grand Hyatt Denver

  • Single stream recycling system for cardboard, paper, aluminum cans, newspapers, magazines and glass bottles
  • Recycle bins strategically placed around public spaces of the hotel including meeting spaces, restaurants, and bars
  • Recycle bins placed in all back of the house areas including banquet floors, offices, kitchens, loading dock areas, and purchasing
  • Recycle bins placed in all guest rooms
  • “Green Team” of hotel managers to ensure the hotel is current with new conservation initiatives
  • Biodegradable food service items are used for carry-out food orders
  • Newspaper racks in public areas instead of delivered to the guest rooms
  • Compositing of all left over food products within staff cafeteria, banquets, and kitchen
  • Energy Star-certified dishwashers to conserve water


Ways We Conserve Energy

  • Back of house hallway areas have electronic ballasts and utilize fluorescent bulbs, light sensors in offices, restrooms, and all associate work area
  • Use of compact fluorescent light bulbs in all guest rooms
  • LED lighting in ballrooms and 2nd and 3rd floor meeting spaces
  • Programmable thermostats in all guest rooms
  • Energy Star* equipment in all guest rooms, including computers in staff offices
  • Energy sealed re-caulked building
  • Automatic hand sinks in all public and associate restrooms
  • Timers on landscape and building up lights
  • Drip system on irrigated landscaping areas
  • Energy management system used to program the HVAC systems
  • Shower heads with a 2.5gpm max flow rate and sink aerators with a 1.0gpm max flow rate
  • The hotel heating and cooling systems designed in conjunction with Xcel Energy company’s recommendations for energy efficiency
  • Reheated water system and reuse of laundry rinse water
  • Bed linen changes upon request to conserve water and energy
  • Encouraged use of electronic staff communication to decrease overall paper useage
  • Printing on recycled paper for internal documents and two-sided printing when applicable
  • Encouraged use of public transportation by subsidizing light rail and bus pass costs for hotel associates
  • SkySpark analytics software to reduce energy
  • LED television sets in all guest rooms
